In 1993, a group of friends living in a La Jolla house full of entertainment became a hit hangout, earning the nickname "Sector 9" from a friend, inspired by their lifestyle and an answering machine message. When their favorite makeshift skateboard was stolen, they started making their own boards, branding them with the "Sector 9" logo.
