Why You’ll Love the Ronix M50 Dark Matter Wakesurf Board 2026

The M50 is the "everything" board for the rider who refuses to choose between a surf and a skim style ride. Built to celebrate Ronix’s 50th model, it blends the high-speed drive of a surfer with the technical, skatey soul of a skimmer. If you want a board that can boost a massive air on one hit and pull a 360 on the next, the M50 is the highest-performing hybrid in the game.

Ideal vs. Wrong Riders

Ronix M50 Dark Matter Wakesurf Board 2026

The Ideal Rider

Intermediate to Advanced riders who want one board that does it all—heavy carves, technical spins, and massive airs without sacrificing speed.

The Wrong Rider

Beginners who need a stable, floaty platform to learn on, or "soul surfers" who only want the heavy, locked-in feel of a traditional longboard.

The Wakesports Crew Review

The first thing we noticed when we rode the M50 was how light it feels underfoot—the reduced swing weight makes it incredibly easy to spin around for 360 shuvs. It carries a ton of speed into the wake, and the pop you get off the lip is effortless thanks to that Dark Matter core. A huge standout for us is the Cheese Grater fins. These are a total game-changer because you can actually mount them on either side to change the grip—run them one way for a locked-in surf feel, or flip them to the "loose" side when you're ready to get technical and skatey. It’s snappy, fast, and stays pinned in the pocket no matter what you throw at it.

FAQ'S: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How does the Ronix M50 compare to the Ronix Osmo or Carbon Air Core? +
While the Osmo and Carbon Air Core are dedicated technical skimmers, the M50 is a true Hybrid wakesurf board. It offers more "push" and drive from a surf-style profile but keeps the thinned-out rails and "slippery" feel of a skimmer. It’s for the rider who wants one board that can handle both massive airs and technical surface spins.
How do I mount the "Cheese Grater" fins on the M50 for a loose vs tight feel? +
The M50’s unique Cheese Grater fins can be mounted in two ways using the Button System. Mount them with the larger surface area forward for a "tight," locked-in surf feel for carving, or flip them for a "loose," skate-style feel that makes the board break free effortlessly for 360s.
What are the benefits of Speedwalls on the M50 board? +
Speedwalls provide a faster top-water glide and added protection to the rails, making the board more durable and efficient in the water.
Is the Ronix M50 good for 360 shuvs? +
Absolutely; the combination of the ultra-light Dark Matter construction and the reduced swing weight makes this board one of the best in the lineup for technical 3-shuvs and spins.
Is the Ronix M50 good for big air? +
Absolutely; because it carries so much natural line speed and has a very reactive core, the M50 is one of the best boards in the lineup for riders looking to boost high above the lip.
