Why You’ll Love the Phase 5 Mindset Wakesurf Board 2026

The Mindset skimmer is for intermediate to advanced women riders who want to spend more time spinning and less time fighting the wave. It’s light, stiff, and built to make technical tricks like 360s and big airs feel like second nature. If you want a board that responds to the tiniest toe-pressure and tracks perfectly when you're riding revert (backwards), Ashley Inloes’ pro model is the benchmark.

Ideal vs. Wrong Riders

Phase 5 Mindset Wakesurf Board 2026

The Ideal Rider

Women riders who want a board that feels like an extension of their feet, specifically those focusing on shuv-its, 360s, or riding revert.

The Wrong Rider

Beginners who need a stable, floaty surf style wakesurfer or larger riders over 190 lbs who would exceed the volume of the Mindset shape.

The Wakesports Crew Review

We took the 2026 Mindset out with our female riders and the first thing we noticed was the narrower width is an absolute game-changer for smaller riders. It flips from rail to rail effortlessly, making the board feel like a natural extension of your feet rather than something you have to manhandle. Whether we were throwing 360 shuvs or surface 3's, the board felt incredibly "tossable" and predictable. What really impressed us was how composed it stays when riding revert; unlike many skimmers that feel "twitchy" when landing backwards, the Mindset locks in and tracks straight immediately. It’s a high-energy, active ride that rewards aggressive edging with explosive pop and impressive speed through the flats.

Product Overview

The 2026 Phase 5 Mindset is a brand-new shape developed in collaboration with World Champion Ashley Inloes, specifically refined for smaller riders. Recognizing the need for a high-performance skim board that is easier to handle, Ashley and Phase Five reduced the width to create a more agile and manageable ride. The Mindset is a high-performance machine that excels at spinning tricks, riding revert, and boosting big airs—all while remaining under the total control of the rider. Whether you are a lady shredder or an aspiring grom, this board is built to change your mindset on what a technical skimmer can do. Constructed with durable Hybrid Carbon™ to withstand heavy sessions and equipped with a single 1” Skim Fin, the Mindset is the precision tool smaller riders have been waiting for.

FAQ'S: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the best way to learn 360s on the Phase 5 Mindset? +
Because the board is so thin and narrow, it wants to rotate. Keep your weight centered, use a slight heel-side edge to initiate, and the 1” Skim Fin will release the tail with almost zero resistance. The Full Deck Techno Grip will ensure your feet stay glued even if you land a little off-center.
Is the Phase 5 Mindset the best board for learning shuv-its? +
It’s definitely a top contender. Because it’s so thin and lightweight, the Mindset is incredibly easy to "flick" into a rotation. Plus, the full deck traction means you have a tacky, secure place to land even if your feet aren't perfectly centered after the spin.
Is the Phase 5 Mindset wakesurfer strictly for women and kids? +
While it was developed with ladies and groms in mind, it is a high-performance machine for any rider within the weight limit who prefers a narrower, more agile board. If you find wider boards feel "clunky" during 360s, the Mindset's refined width will be a major upgrade.
Why is the narrower width so important for the Mindset? +
Smaller riders often struggle with the "leverage" required to put a wide board on edge. By narrowing the Mindset, Ashley Inloes created a board that responds instantly to foot pressure, making it much easier to control and maneuver than standard-width skimmers.
Can a beginner ride the Phase 5 Mindset? +
While it is a high-performance technical board, its reduced width actually makes it quite manageable for smaller beginners who struggle to control larger boards. However, it is an "active" ride, so it’s best suited for riders who want to progress into tricks and spins.
