Why You’ll Love the Ronix Flyweight Skimmer Wakesurf Board 2026

The Flyweight Skimmer is all about shedding weight to gain speed. It’s a minimalist technical wakesurfer designed for riders who want the thinnest profile possible. If you want a board that feels like it’s barely there during a 360 and lets you stay connected to the water, this is your go-to skimmer.

Ideal vs. Wrong Riders

Ronix Flyweight Skimmer Wakesurf Board 2026

The Ideal Rider

Technical riders who want a low-buoyancy board that sits deep in the water for better edge control and effortless shuv-it style tricks.

The Wrong Rider

Beginners who need the "float" and stability of a high-volume board, or riders who want the stiff, aggressive snap of a full carbon construction.

The Wakesports Crew Review

The first thing we noticed when we hopped on the Flyweight is how much "feel" you have with the water. Because it's not overly buoyant, it doesn't feel like it’s fighting you; it sits deeper in the wake, which gives you incredible confidence when setting an edge for a trick. The swing weight is practically non-existent—when you go for a 360 or a shuv, the board rotates so quickly you have to make sure you don't over-rotate. It’s a "quiet" ride that absorbs the wake rather than bouncing over it. The Fin-S system makes it easy to experiment with different fin sizes, but we loved it with the 1" fin for that perfect mix of tracking and "break-free" skate feel.

Product Overview

The 2026 Ronix Flyweight Skimmer is a minimalist technical wakesurfer built for the surfer who demands the least amount of swing weight. By thinning out the profile and utilizing the ultra-light Flyweight core, Ronix created a board that sits deeper in the waterline, offering more natural and connected board control. This low-buoyancy design allows you to engage the rail more effectively, making it easier to break free for technical spins and shuv-its. Featuring a specific tail rocker for added control when riding forward and a shape that resists "pearling" when switch, the Flyweight is a performance-driven tool at a more accessible price point than the elite Ronix carbon models. Whether you’re perfecting a contest run or just want a lighter, more responsive feel on the water, the Flyweight Skimmer is the ultimate minimalist performer.

FAQ'S: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Flyweight vs Carbon Air Core - Which Ronix skimmer is right for me? +
The Flyweight is for the rider who wants a "dampened" and connected feel. It sits deeper in the water and is more forgiving during rotations. The Carbon Air Core is for riders who want a "stiff" and explosive pop off the wake. Both are great, but Flyweight offers a more natural, minimalist ride.
Why does a thinner wakesurfer like the Flyweight help with tricks? +
A thinner profile has less volume, which allows the board to sit deeper in the waterline. This lowers the center of gravity and reduces swing weight, making the board rotate significantly faster during 360s and shuv-its compared to a standard-thickness skimmer.
Can I ride the Ronix Flyweight Skimmer finless for a skate feel? +
Yes. Because this board sits deeper in the water and features sharp, clean rails, it has enough natural "grip" for advanced riders to ride it finless. This is the preferred setup for riders focusing on technical surface spins and shuv-its.
What is the benefit of the tail rocker on this skim board? +
The tail rocker provides extra control when you are in the forward position and prevents the board from feeling "stuck" when you transition. It also helps lift the nose when riding switch, making it less likely to dunk the nose during a trick.
How does the Fin-S system work for on-the-water adjustments? +
The Fin-S system is 100% tool-less. You can swap your 1" fin for a larger or smaller option in seconds on the swim platform. This allows you to quickly change the "loose" or "locked-in" feel of the board based on the wake conditions.
