💡 Foil Sizing Tip: Skill vs. Weight

In wakefoiling, board size is determined by your experience level, not your body weight.

  • Beginners: Choose a longer board (4'8"+). The extra surface area acts like a "landing pad," making deep-water starts and accidental touchdowns much easier to recover from.
  • Advanced: Choose a shorter board (under 4'1"). A smaller board has less "swing weight," which allows for faster turns, easier pumping, and more control once you are in the air.

🚀 Real Talk: Learning to Foil

Foiling is a different animal with a steeper learning curve than surfing, but once you get the hang of it, you feel like you’re floating on a cloud. It’s an indescribable, addicting feeling you have to experience yourself.

The Board
Size is about stability, not weight. Larger boards are forgiving for beginners; smaller boards reduce swing weight for advanced "flick-ability."
The Mast
Short masts are stable and safe for Day 1. Long masts allow for higher flight, deeper carving, and pumping the second and third waves back.

Find Your Perfect Flight

The Speed Series Wing Guide
• 1130cm²: High speed, high maneuverability. Best for advanced/lightweight riders or fast boat wakes (14mph+).
• 1330cm²: The versatile standard. Perfect balance of lift and speed for most adult riders.
• 1530cm²: Maximum lift. Best for heavier riders (200 lbs+) or surfing smaller, slower boat wakes.

Board Choice: Choose the 3'9" Mod 84 for maximum response and "flick-ability," or the 4'2" Mod 84 if you want a more stable landing pad for high-speed flight.

Pro Tip: Board length on a foil manages "swing weight." If you want faster transitions, go shorter. If you want a more stable landing pad, go with a bit more volume.

The Wakesports Crew Review

The cool thing about this Speed Series setup is how much you can tune the ride just by swapping the front wing. We’ve spent time on all three sizes, and the personality shift is real. The 1130 is the sports car—it's fast, incredibly nimble, and loves high-velocity carves, but it definitely requires more speed to stay on plane. The 1530 is the cruiser; it gives you a massive, stable platform with tons of lift, which is a win for bigger riders or boat wakes that are a bit softer. Most of us find the 1330 to be the 'Goldilocks' wing—it's got that locked-in speed feel without sacrificing the lift you need to stay in the pocket. No matter which wing you choose, that 29-inch mast gives you the clearance to really lean the board over for deep carves. Paired with the Mod 84 board, the feedback is instant. It’s a total rush for anyone who wants to carve the wake like a giant slalom course. 98% of wakefoilers will be on the 1330 wing which we highly recommend.

Product Overview

The Ronix Advanced 29" Speed Series is engineered for precision and high-velocity engagement. Unlike foils designed for slow-speed flight, this series offers three distinct wing sizes (1130, 1330, 1530) to perfectly match rider weight and boat speed. Each wing features a unique low-drag profile that remains predictable as boat speeds climb toward 15. This kit is paired with the Mod 84—a high-performance carbon-hybrid board available in 3'9" and 4'2" that minimizes swing weight. The 29-inch mast provides the necessary height for aggressive carving and flying over choppy water. This setup is built for riders who want a customizable, high-speed weapon that doesn't compromise on stability.

FAQ'S: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I choose between the 1130, 1330, and 1530 wings? +
It comes down to rider weight and boat speed; the 1130 is for experts and high speeds; the 1330 is the versatile standard; and the 1530 offers maximum lift for heavier riders or slower wakes. You may think you need the 1530 wing but we recommend going with the 1330 wing no matter your skill level.
Is the Mod 84 board better for speed than the 727? +
Yes; the Mod 84 is a thinner and stiffer performance deck that offers more direct feedback and less swing weight for high-speed carves.
Why use a 29" mast for a speed setup? +
A taller mast allows you to lean the foil further into a turn without the board hitting the water; which is essential for high-velocity carving.
Can I still pump the Speed series wings? +
Absolutely! The speed series wings do require more effort than a High Aspect wing but still great for pumping. This setup is optimized for surfing the wake with power and speed rather than long-distance pumping.
How do I choose between the 3'9" and 4'2" Mod 84? +
The 3'9" is for pure response and minimal swing weight; while the 4'2" gives you a slightly larger landing pad for high-speed touchdowns and easier starts.
