Water Ski Package FAQs

What Size Water Ski Should I Buy?

Before choosing the right water ski size, you must know several variables. Here's a quick breakdown of the elements to consider when sizing water ski packages.

  • Weight - Heavier skiers will need longer and wider skis. If the ski or skis will be used by multiple people, buy them long enough for the heaviest person.
  • Skill Level - Newer skiers need wider and longer skis to help them get out of the water more easily. As they progress in skill, they can switch to shorter skis as needed.
  • Types of Water Skis - Different size ranges are available based on the type of water ski you’re purchasing. A Slalom water ski is a single ski that is generally longer and thinner than combo water skis, which come in pairs.

How are Water Ski Bindings Sized?

Water ski bindings are sized based on whether the boots are open or closed-toe. Open-toe boots fit a range of sizes (i.e., 4-8, 7.5-10.5, 10-14), making them ideal for multiple skiers using the same waterski. Closed-toe bindings are generally sized the same way as regular shoes. However, some brands may have slightly different measurements, so it's best to try them on or call us so we can help before making a final decision if possible.

If you are shopping for closed-toe bindings, it's always better to size up than down, just to be safe. However, make sure the boot is still snug around the foot so it doesn't slip off while you are skiing.

What are Some Good Water Ski Packages for Beginners?

At Wakesports, we offer only the best water ski packages for beginner, intermediate, and expert-level skiers. If you're still new to the world of water skiing, here are our top-recommended packages.

Men: Radar Terrain Waterski w/Prime Boot & ARTP

These skis come with an oversized flat spot to help beginners find their balance and rise out of the water. The Prime Boot is open-toe for maximum flexibility and versatility. These skis are also rugged yet flexible, making them ideal for season after season of skiing.

Women: HO Women's Hovercraft w/ Stance 110 Boot & ARTP

This water ski package is a wider ski to help you get out of the water and turn like a pro, even if you've never skied before. The Stance 110 Boot also comes with lateral flex zones and comfort foam so your feet feel cozy the whole time.

Boys: Radar Boy's T.R.A. w/ Kid's TRA & ARTP

These skis are designed with kid-specific features, including a more flexible shape that allows children to rip through turns and feel more confident in their abilities from the beginning.

Girls: Radar Girl's T.R.A. w/ Kid's TRA & ARTP

This ski package uses the same materials and shapes as the Radar Boy's skis, but it comes with a festive floral pattern that will appeal to girls of all ages.

If you have younger children (two to eight years old), one of your top choices is the 2024 Radar Firebolt Combo. These combo skis will help them find their balance and feel secure on the skis, even as the boat speed increases. Once they master these combo skis, then they will be ready to upgrade to a slalom ski.
